Visual communication has an instant and lasting impact, saving valuable time and resources. As the saying goes: 'a picture paints a thousand words'. Occupational health and safety illustrations can be used to inform, educate, challenge, inspire, and help us understand complex subjects. It can also be invaluable when we are faced with literacy problems and language barriers in the workplace.

This is an illustration of safety protocol on a worksite. The illustration was created by Nigel Spaven of Spaven Safety. The image shows an untidy worksite with tools and equipment scattered on the floor next to a dumper truck. An employee has a leg entangled in a jackhammer cable and is falling backwards into an open trench.
